Summary
The ELL Coordinator works closely with staff, students and families to ensure that all ELL students succeed academically by developing full proficiency in English. The ELL Coordinator supports the academic and personal growth of our students, while making sure all students are successful and develop strong characters. The ELL Coordinator will make sure the students understand the school wide expectations and policies while consistently asking the students to follow the outlined expectations for common areas with in the school. In addition this person will support staff in the scheduled arrival, mealtime and dismissal duties.
Job Duties
Provide ELL services and academic enrichment to students based on service plans
Manage student identification and testing processes (NYSITELL, NYSESLAT)
Observe and provide guidance to teachers on differentiating for ELL students
Design and implement Pull-out/Push-in language acquisition instruction for ELL students
Maintain professional skills and knowledge of practices and issues related to language acquisition by researching, continuing education and attending professional development
Develop and implement an ELL program that meets all students needs
Ensure compliance with all ELL laws and policies
Create individualize service plans and schedules for each ELL students
Maintain relationships and communicate with families about students progress and keep an updated log of the contact
Provide students with a progress reports each quarter for performance and behavior
Submit lessons plan on a weekly basis
Plan, organize and replenish lesson plans for substitute teachers in case of absence
Meet all test and data and reporting deadlines
Maintain anecdotal and formal evaluative records (checklists, anecdotal notes, quiz/test, etc.
Participate actively in weekly grade level team planning meetings by planning units of study and weekly lessons collaboratively with team teacher(s), specialist and administrators
Attend all faculty meetings

Requirements
Attend the annual Hyde 101 Training
TESOL Certification (preferred)
ESL Certified (Preferred)
Experience working with diverse populations, including ELLs and students with special needs
Demonstrated success working in an urban school setting
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
A Masters degree in Education or relevant content area (preferred)
New York State Certification (preferred)
