Job Description

PURPOSE OF GROUP / UNIT:

The Operations group works as a team to plan and efficiently execute processes that will provide high quality services to clients. Their scope encompasses material handling, processing, and facilities upkeep.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As an important member of the POS Biosciences’ Operations team, the Operations Labourer’s duties may encompass all or some of the following, as appropriate to the worker’s skills and the company’s job requirements. The Operations Labourer is an in-scope position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain the plant and areas of operation in clean and safe working conditions including cleanup of spills from processes and general housekeeping.
  2. Ensure assigned activities are carried out safely and effectively, within the guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures and within GMP and HACCP standards.
  3. Ensure policies, safety standards, regulations and protocols are always followed and adhered to.
  4. Maintain knowledge an awareness of plant safety and fire prevention as part of execution of activities, which may vary from assignment to assignment.
  5. Assist Operators with basic process assistance not requiring of equipment training and experience, to be of Supervisor discretion.
  6. Assist Warehouse with material handling requirements not requiring specialized training.
  7. Cleaning of mobile equipment, tanks, and parts.
  8. Participate in any Lean initiatives as assigned by Management.
  9. Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained and communicate accurately and timely to Shift Supervisors and team members.
  10. Show a positive work attitude in performing assigned tasks. Work effectively with others as a team and ensure positive and productive work relationships are maintained within the department and company.
  11. Complete timecard entries in ERP system tracking work assignment.

CRITICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES

  1. Good communication, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  2. Initiative; good planning and organizational abilities.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced processing environment. Ability to handle stress, multi-task and display patience and tolerance.
  4. Strong desire to learn.
  5. Knowledge of shop tool operation or processing equipment is an asset.
  6. Team player: ability to work well with others.
  7. Self motivated with problem solving skills and the ability to work independently.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma.
  • Cleaning equipment and small hand tools.
  • Experience in a food processing plant environment is an asset.

OBJECTIF DU GROUPE / DE L’UNITÉ:

L’équipe des opérations travaille en collaboration pour planifier et exécuter efficacement les processus afin de fournir des services de haute qualité aux clients. Son champ d’action comprend la manutention des matériaux, le traitement et l’entretien des installations.

OBJECTIF DU POSTE :

En tant que membre important de l’équipe des opérations de POS Biosciences, les tâches du manœuvre aux opérations peuvent comprendre tout ou partie des responsabilités suivantes, selon les compétences de l’employé et les besoins de l’entreprise. Le poste de manœuvre aux opérations est un poste syndiqué conformément à la convention collective.

TÂCHES ET RESPONSABILITÉS PRINCIPALES:

  • Maintenir l’usine et les zones d’opération dans des conditions de travail propres et sécuritaires, y compris le nettoyage des déversements liés aux processus et l’entretien ménager général.

  • Veiller à ce que les activités assignées soient réalisées de façon sécuritaire et efficace, conformément aux Procédures Opératoires Normalisées et aux normes BPF (bonnes pratiques de fabrication) et HACCP.

  • S’assurer que les politiques, les normes de sécurité, les règlements et les protocoles sont toujours respectés et appliqués.

  • Maintenir ses connaissances et sa vigilance en matière de sécurité de l’usine et de prévention des incendies dans l’exécution des activités, qui peuvent varier d’une affectation à l’autre.

  • Aider les opérateurs dans les tâches de base des procédés ne nécessitant pas de formation spécialisée sur l’équipement, à la discrétion du superviseur.

  • Aider l’entrepôt pour la manutention de matériaux ne nécessitant pas de formation spécialisée.

  • Nettoyer l’équipement mobile, les cuves et les pièces.

  • Participer à toute initiative Lean assignée par la direction.

  • S’assurer que les registres sont exacts et tenus à jour, et communiquer l’information de façon précise et en temps opportun aux superviseurs de quart et aux membres de l’équipe.

  • Faire preuve d’une attitude positive au travail lors de l’exécution des tâches assignées. Travailler efficacement en équipe et veiller à entretenir des relations de travail positives et productives au sein du département et de l’entreprise.

  • Remplir les entrées de feuille de temps dans le système ERP pour suivre les tâches effectuées.

COMPÉTENCES / CONNAISSANCES / APTITUDES ESSENTIELLES:

  • Bonne communication, pensée innovante et compétences en résolution de problèmes.

  • Esprit d’initiative, bonnes aptitudes en planification et en organisation.

  • Capacité à travailler dans un environnement de traitement à rythme rapide. Capacité à gérer le stress, à accomplir plusieurs tâches à la fois et à faire preuve de patience et de tolérance.

  • Fort désir d’apprendre.

  • La connaissance de l’utilisation d’outils d’atelier ou d’équipement de traitement constitue un atout.

  • Esprit d’équipe : capacité à bien travailler avec les autres.

  • Motivation personnelle, compétences en résolution de problèmes et capacité à travailler de façon autonome.

FORMATION / EXPÉRIENCE:

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires.

  • Connaissance de l’utilisation d’équipement de nettoyage et de petits outils manuels.

  • Une expérience dans un environnement d’usine de transformation alimentaire constitue un atout.
