The Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC) is the primary public safety dispatch center for the Cities of Dublin, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Worthington, Washington Township, and Norwich Township. Located inside the Dublin Justice Center, NRECC was formed in October 2013 when Dublin began providing dispatching services for Norwich Township Fire and became the primary 9-1-1 answering point for all of Hilliard. Our journey continued with the addition of Hilliard Police, Upper Arlington Fire and Police, and Worthington Fire and Police. As one of five wireless PSAPs in the county, we are the primary answering point for 9-1-1 calls throughout northwest Franklin County.
This position provides daily technical supervision and guidance to Communications Technicians in the Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC) on an assigned shift. Additionally, this position enforces agency policies, procedures, work rules, and directives with staff. This position has the ability to support the responsibilities of a communications technician as operational needs require.
NRECC is structurally organized to have six (6) Communications Supervisors. This posting could be used to fill multiple vacancies. Each position will be assigned supervision responsibilities for one of the three operational shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and will be required to work variable hours based on the needs of the assigned shift and other department needs including training and management meetings. Additionally, the nature of the work may require availability during irregular hours, including weekends.
First Shift: 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Second Shift: 2:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.
Third Shift: 10:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises assigned Communications Technicians.

Supervises, plans, and assigns work to Communications Technicians on an assigned shift; provides the required technical, operational guidance and direction to Technicians.
Evaluates the work performance of Communications Technicians through conducting quality assurance reviews of calls for service and Emergency Medical Dispatch calls for service.
Conducts mid-year reviews and performance evaluations of Communications Technicians assigned to their shift.
Takes corrective action and issues disciplines.
Maintains accountability for appropriate staffing levels for assigned shift.
Reviews and approves timecards for assigned staff.
Addresses and reports equipment issues.
Provides audio recordings and computerized records during the shift.
Recommends Communication Center goals and objectives to Communications and Operations Managers; assist in writing, revising, and implementing communications policies.
Fosters an inclusive and collaborative culture.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with two (2) years of experience as a Communications Technician/911 Dispatcher; some experience as a Communications Training Officer preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), LEADS/NCIC, 911 operations, police, fire & EMS dispatching, Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD), and Communications Training Officer (CTO) and Incident Dispatch Team (IDT) rules and regulations.
Ability to acquire and maintain LEADS and NCIC certification within probationary period.
Knowledge of Part 90 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Skills in the understanding of communications center equipment and functionality.
Skills in setting expectations, leading by example, and conflict management.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Knowledge of LEADS TAC, 911 operations including wireless and Next Gen features preferred.
Ability to acquire and maintain Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification.
Professional leadership and training experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use public safety radio communications equipment.
Ability to move about the inside of an office space to access file cabinets and office equipment.
Operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a copier, fax machine, mobile device, shredder, scanner, etc.
Must be able to remain in stationary position at workstation throughout scheduled workday.
Ability to exchange information with co-workers and citizens through use of email system, the telephone, and in-person interactions.
Ability to lift and move objects weighing 10-15 lbs.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license.

Must establish and maintain a primary place of residence within a County within which the Police Department has jurisdiction, or a county contiguous with such County of jurisdiction. (List includes Franklin, Delaware, Union, Morrow, Marion, Hardin, Logan, Champaign, Madison, Pickaway, Fairfield, Licking, and Knox Counties.)
If a conditional offer is made, the ability to complete and pass a polygraph assessment, psychological evaluation, and medical screening.
