About This Position
Job title: Dietary Cook
Position: Full Time (32-40 hours per week) 2 weekends shifts per month
Wage: Starting at $17.89 (based on experience)

Position Summary
The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving food for patients, staff, and special events according to the scheduled menu. Responsible for cleaning and restocking the kitchen and dining room. Responsible for restocking the Nutrition Center of Cherry County Hospital and Clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepares full range of food items with minimal supervision to be ready on time and at correct temperature
- Maintains food temperature
- Maintains the standards of safety and sanitation
- Prepares food for cooking according to recipe
- Makes recipe adjustments for number of servings
- Uses concepts of special diets to prepare food items
- Follows menus and prepares servings according to requirements
- Jail trays prepped, prepared and delivered daily
- Consults supervisor regarding menu changes
- Consults supervisor on saving or throwing out of leftovers
- Properly cools and stores leftovers
- Maintains dishwasher temperature log
- Maintains refrigerator/freezer temperature log
- Follows weekly, monthly, and daily cleaning schedules for the kitchen and dining areas
- Restocks kitchen, dining room and Nutrition Center as needed
- Unloads grocery orders to proper storage area
- Cleans and takes proper care of equipment
- Assists with preparation of special events
- Attends staff meetings
- Participates in training program
- Attends workshops and educational programs as required by Administrator
- Ensures the confidentiality of patients’ medical, personal, and financial records is maintained
- Knowledgeable of and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures
- Complies with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Has the ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to lift and carry packages and/or boxes of food or supplies up to 35 pounds
- Able to utilize a small step stool safely
- Must be able to do some repetitive movements
- Able to properly handle sharp instruments
- Able to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures
- Has good tactile sensation for safe operation of equipment
- Willing to work weekends, holidays, and some overtime

Requirements: Minimum Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe Certified not required but will need to be obtained
- One year of food service experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record required
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for meal delivery to the jail
