About This Position
We are looking to hire a team-oriented, skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our practice. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care and assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. Hours are Monday - Friday (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM) with rotating Saturday hours (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM).
The CMA performs all clinical tasks required including, but not limited to:
- Pre-charting all patients prior to their visit.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment
- Take patient history and other pertinent information and record in the patient EHR.
- Obtain and record vitals, heights, weights, head circumferences.
- Obtain blood by finger stick/heel stick and perform routine blood tests (e.g., Hgb, Mono spot).
- Obtain urine specimens and perform urinalysis.
- Perform audio/visual screens.
- Perform throat cultures and urine cultures.
- Administer all injections and immunizations and record data according to protocols.
- Assist physicians as needed in minor procedures, physical and gynecological exams.
- Obtain and prepare all specimens to be sent to commercial/state laboratory. Does necessary paperwork for laboratory specimens. Record all laboratory data in EHR and scan hard copy into EHR.
- Prepare and maintain supplies, equipment for treatment, and sterilization of instruments.
- Clean and stock rooms daily.
- Acts as liaison between patient and practice staff to ensure optimal flow and service.
Our medical assistants are responsible for assisting with the maintaining of patient files/records and other information:
- Scans all correspondence/laboratory results into EHR
- Completes school, camp, WIC, and other health forms on every physical examination or as requested by physician or nurse manager.
- Completes prior authorizations (medication, medical supply, transportation, etc.); gives to provider to sign; and submits completed forms to requesting entity.
- Provides handout sheets for parents and prints the school form with latest physical exam information.
- Performs phone triage for patients calling the office requesting sick visits utilizing practice protocols.
- Schedules appropriate appointment type utilizing information obtained from parent/patient.
- Update patient demographic and billing information as needed.
- Routes prescription refill request to patient’s PCP (Primary Care Physician) assuring all needed information is updated and available.
- Manages patient calls and inquiries by providing information, scheduling appointments and/or routing to PCP. Assures all required information per protocols is obtained and sends information to PCP.

This position requires completion of an accredited CMA program plus a current CCMA or CMA National Certification
