Job Overview This pivotal position is at the heart of promoting the developmental progress of young children experiencing delays or disabilities. Early intervention specialists play a crucial role in identifying the specific needs of infants and toddlers, collaborating with families, healthcare providers, and educators to create and implement individualized intervention plans. By addressing developmental challenges during a child's formative years, lay the groundwork for improved long-term outcomes in health, education, and overall well-being. Early Intervention Specialist Responsibilities & Duties- Conduct developmental assessments and evaluations to identify areas of delay or concern "MDE's"
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment results
- Collaborate with families to provide education, support, and resources
- Work with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and pediatricians
- Monitor and document children's progress toward developmental goals
- Adjust intervention strategies as needed based on ongoing assessments
- Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Provide training and support to caregivers and family members
- Advocate for the needs of children and families within the community
- Stay current with best practices and research in early childhood intervention
- Master's degree in early childhood education, special education, or a related field
- Certification or licensure in early childhood intervention
- Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities
- Knowledge of early childhood development and intervention strategies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities
- Proficiency in using assessment tools and software
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, special education, or a related field
- 1 year of full-time working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families
- Experience in early childhood education or related field
- Strong observational and assessment skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized intervention plans
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing early intervention services
- understanding and skills needed to perform the functions specified in {4226.54(relating to early interventionist responsibilities).
- must not be excluded from enrolling in Pennsylvania's Promise System
- original child abuse clearance, criminal state clearance, and FBI clearance approving the individual for work with children.
