About This Position

This part-time contract position is responsible for the overall management of the program and all aspects of the Program’s operations. This primarily involves the supervision and coordination of a volunteer advocate service program that provides CASA services to abused and neglected children. However, the volunteer advocate service program may provide a CASA to other minor children involved in a matter before the Court if it is in a child’s best interest. Key responsibilities include but are not restricted to: (1) volunteer advocate recruitment and training; (2) program responsibilities; (3) community and public relations; and (4) volunteer advocate supervision and assistance.
1. Attend National CASA Conference 2024 and New Director Training (if applicable/offered).
2. Complete CASA/GAL Pre-Service Training Curricula for CASA/GAL Volunteer advocates.
3. Attend Training for Facilitators: National CASA/GAL Pre-Service Training Curricula for CASA/GAL Volunteer advocates.
4. Assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing, and training of new volunteer advocates.
5. Review new cases and assign appropriate volunteer advocates.
6. Provide direct supervision of CASA volunteer advocates:
a. Work with volunteer advocates to select cases.
b. Coach and provide feedback to volunteer advocates.
c. Review work to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and established procedures.
d. Handle day-to-day volunteer advocate questions and problems.
e. Assist volunteer advocates in addressing crisis situations.
f. Assist volunteer advocates in preparing cases for court.
g. Support volunteer advocates in court hearings.
h. Track volunteer advocate annual training hours, and
i. May provide coverage for volunteer advocates on cases under limited circumstances.
7. Prepare and complete required and related forms, records, documents, and reports of programs activities.

OTHER JOB DUTIES
1. Perform ongoing public relations work/
2. Act as liaison between volunteer advocates and stakeholders.
2. Purchase supplies and maintain inventory for CASA-related functions and training.
3. May participate in and make recommendations regarding selection and termination of volunteer advocates.
4. Assist in the evaluation and growth of the program.
5. Attend at least 12 hours of in-service trainings and assist with coordination of volunteer advocates in-service training.
6. Attend conferences/seminars/meetings as requested.
7. Attend Court hearings.
8. Attend Specialty Court settings if an assigned family is involved
9. Perform related duties as required.
Experience And Training:
• A bachelor’s degree in social service-related field or closely related field OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills.

• Basic understanding of child development and family relationships.
• Impact of substance use, mental health and domestic violence.
• Basic interviewing and assessment techniques.
• Individual and group behavior.
• Trends in the social services area including trauma-informed care.

• Adapt to different situations and challenges
• Excellent verbal and written communication and demonstrated competency in office software applications. Optima - a unique application will be taught.

Ability To:
• Effectively train, coordinate, and evaluate the work of volunteer advocates.
• Relate to and communicate with persons of diverse ages, social, economic, cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Establish and maintain rapport with volunteer advocates, guide them toward positive goals using effective communication skills.
• Respond effectively in crisis and emergency situations.
• Express ideas and recommendations clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with justice system officials, community, organizations and agency staff, associates, other county employees and the public.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare clear, concise written reports.
• Exercise initiative and judgment and make decisions within the scope of contracted authority.
• Coordinate social media.

Required Certifications and Licenses:
• A valid Nevada State Driver's License.
• Has never been arrested for, found guilty of, nor pleaded guilty, nor nolo contendere to, nor has charges pending for any criminal offense involving abuse or neglect, or abandonment of a minor child, or for related acts that would pose risks to children or required to register as a sexual offender.
• Submits a resume and an application with at least three (3) references.
• Submits to a personal interview.
• Passes the background check including reference checks, social security verification and criminal record, sex offender registry and Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.

The work is performed in an office environment, a court room and remotely. Some evenings and weekend work may be required depending on program needs. The number of hours each week will vary from 8- 30 hours depending on Program needs. NO BENEFITS. No FLSA status. CONTRACT POSITION.
