About This Position
Ready to jumpstart your career in education? As an Instructional Assistant or AVID Tutor, you'll work directly with students and teachers in dynamic classroom environments. Our positions include:
- General Classroom - Assist teachers across various subjects and provide broad instructional support
- Bilingual - Bridge language barriers by translating and supporting English learners
- Special Education - Provide specialized support for students with disabilities and special needs
- Visual Arts - Help students explore creativity through drawing, painting, and artistic expression
- Child Care - Supervise and engage students in after-school and extended care programs
- Visual Arts Performing Arts (VAPA) - Support comprehensive arts education including music, theater, and performance
- AVID Tutor (temporary) - Facilitate small-group tutorials using inquiry-based methods to develop students' critical thinking and college readiness skills

What you'll actually be doing:
- Support student learning - Help individual students and small groups with reading, math, and homework
- Assist teachers - Set up classrooms, prepare materials, and grade assignments
- Be a positive role model - Supervise students during recess, lunch, and field trips
- Use technology - Help students with computers, tablets, and learning apps
- Build relationships - Communicate with parents and work as part of a team
- Get specialized experience - Depending on your assignment, you might translate for bilingual students, assist with art projects, support special education programs, or help with after-school care
We're looking for people who have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Plus ONE of these:
- 48 college units
- Associate's degree
- Pass our reading, writing, and math assessment
- Great attitude and love working with kids
- Reliable and professional
- Note: Instructional Assistant Child Care positions require 12+ Early Childhood Education units in addition to the high school diploma (no assessment needed). AVID Tutor positions require proof of current college enrollment or completion of college coursework.
No teaching experience required! We'll train you on everything you need to know.
