About This Position

NTRO Research Study Manager

Are you ready to impact the lives of those affected by cancer? We are hiring an individual to participate in challenging and meaningful work to support the non-therapeutic studies under the research portfolio of Dr. Jessica Islam, an Assistant Member in Cancer Epidemiology. The project’s focus on cancer prevention and the quality of cancer among people with HIV in the US Southeast. The research project utilizes “big data,” within a community framework.

As a NTRO Research Study Manager with Dr. Islam, you will support community-engaged research efforts with our community partners and lead the development of a Community Advisory Council. The position will require occasional travel to community clinics and community events, including HIV-specific state-level conferences, to share our work in progress.

The NTRO Research Study Manager position typically offers a Monday through Friday schedule, though some require occasional evenings and weekends. Moffitt offers training and an in depth orientation.

Position Highlights:

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments and responsibilities for the research support team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in creating professional reports and manuscripts.
  • Successful experience in participant recruitment, biospecimen procurement, protocol amendments, data abstraction, and budget planning
  • Experience planning, leading and executing research studies with significant regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is highly preferred
  • Experience in community engaged research is highly preferred
  • Experience engaging with priority populations, such as people with HIV, is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, leads, and facilitates the daily research and administrative duties associated with the PI's portfolio of research
  • Monitors project timelines and performs project related quality assurance
  • Assigns resources including oversight of the training needs and performance of duties related to the studies
  • Acts as the liaison between the faculty member and the research coordinators
  • Collaborates with cross-functional, internal and external teams to efficiently implement and execute all assigned protocol requirements

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in field relating to public health, psychology, biological sciences or relevant field and five (5) years of directly relevant research experience (participant recruitment, biospecimen procurement, protocol amendments, data abstraction, budget planning), inclusive of 2 years of project management related experience (leading, planning, implementing and/or executing research projects).
  • Master's degree and three (3) years of directly relevant research experience (participant recruitment, biospecimen procurement, protocol amendments, data abstraction, budget planning).
  • Project management related experience (leading, planning, implementing and/or executing research projects) preferred.
  • Grant or manuscript writing experience.
