About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Warehouse Analyst I will support data pipeline development, ETL processes, and report development. This position will assist with data integration, pipeline maintenance, and data quality activities. This position will use a thorough understanding of Craig Hospital systems and reporting tools to increase patient safety, enhance and streamline workflows, and assist in identifying areas for improving the quality and outcomes of patient care interventions, efficiency, cost savings, and compliance throughout the Hospital.

Rate of pay: $36.93-$53.18 per hour based on experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: None
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, BS in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or related technical field, or at least 3 years' experience required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience years of hands-on experience with relational databases, SQL development, and data integration tools. Experience with healthcare systems or electronic medical records preferred. Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL queries including joins, subqueries, and aggregate functions.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Technical Skills: Intermediate SQL proficiency with the ability to write complex queries, optimize query performance, and understand database schema design. Working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (Python, R, or PowerShell) preferred. Familiarity with ETL concepts and data integration patterns. Understanding of relational database management systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL). Intermediate to advanced proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) preferred
    • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to data quality and accuracy. Ability to understand data relationships and identify data anomalies. Understand and work with existing dimensional data models; assist with minor schema modifications under supervision.
    • Soft Skills: Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to document technical processes clearly. Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly. Collaborative team player who can work effectively with clinical and technical stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of ETL packages using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) under supervision, including data transformations, aggregations, and movement between warehouse layers to support reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Write and optimize SQL stored procedures, views, and functions to support reporting and data integration needs.
  • Perform comprehensive data validation and quality checks on data integration processes, identifying and documenting data anomalies.
  • Use version control systems for all SQL scripts and code, following established repository standards and commit practices.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to troubleshoot data pipeline issues and implement fixes.
  • Help maintain technical documentation including data dictionaries, ETL process flows, data lineage, and pipeline architecture diagrams.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve SQL coding practices and data engineering techniques.
  • Monitor scheduled ETL jobs and data loads, escalating issues appropriately and assisting with resolution.
  • Learn hospital data systems, clinical workflows, and data integration points through structured training and hands-on experience.
  • Assist with database maintenance activities including index optimization, query tuning, and performance monitoring.
  • Support data warehouse schema development and maintenance.
  • Contribute to data quality initiatives by developing validation queries and automated data checks.
  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions with end users to understand data needs and translate into technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Support the hospital's reporting environment by performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting report issues, and implementing report modifications.
  • Collaborate with end users to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications for data visualization solutions.
