What You’ll Do

As an Emergency Department Technician, you’ll report to Nursing Manager and assist patients with performing activities of daily living when delegated by RN. You will obtain vital signs on patients and reports to assigned nurse. The ED Tech keeps the nurse up to date on any changes in patient information. You’ll exhibit exceptional patient experience by upholding Beacon values of respect, trust integrity and compassion and displaying relationship-based care.

Emergency Department Technician Job Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and families with care, directions, and communication.
  • Answer phones courteously and maintain contact with waiting patients.
  • Support clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, wound care, specimen collection, vital signs).
  • Maintain safety and infection control standards.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with unit maintenance, stocking, and room turnover.
  • Report safety concerns and assist in de-escalation when needed.
  • Completion of required skills training (e.g., EKG, Hazmat).
  • Willingness to learn, teach, and contribute to team success.

What You Bring

You bring good customer service skills. You must have good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. You are a strong team player who receives delegation readily and positively.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
  • EMT certified (First Response, Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or currently enrolled in a School of Nursing is preferred.
  • Must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/CPR) within 3 months of hire and maintain current certification.
  • Experience in the Emergency Department or other related healthcare experience preferred.
