About This Position
The CHRO also serves in the role of Corporate Compliance Officer (CCO) and is responsible for establishing and implementing an effective compliance program to help prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct. This may involve reporting results of compliance and ethics efforts of the company as well as provide guidance for the Board and senior management team on matters relating to corporate compliance reporting and issues. The CCO officer is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program and will identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues; and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. This will also involve instituting and maintaining an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting a) use of the compliance hotline, b) heightened awareness of standards of conduct, and c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures. The CCO monitors the performance of the compliance program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness. The CCO maintains independence and objectivity by reporting directly to the CEO and when necessary may exercise the option to report any necessary matters directly to the Board.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources Administration or closely related field required.
Experience:
- Minimum seven (7) years proven progressive Human Resources leadership experience required.
- Prior experience in Healthcare corporate compliance required.
- Previous executive level leadership experience in Healthcare Human Resources leadership strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Valid driver’s license in good standing required coupled with transportation that allows for travel around the region to various company facilities.
- One or more the following credentials/certifications preferred:
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
- Society for Human Resources Management Certified professional (SHRM-CP)
- South Carolina Healthcare Human Resources Association (SCHHRA) member.
Special Skills:
- Ability to build consensus and work effectively and collaboratively with physicians, department heads, and members of executive leadership team required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer and PowerPoint required.
- Exemplary core customer service skills and core values strongly required.
- Knowledge of leadership, creativity, teaching, education, and group dynamics required.
- Knowledge of program development and administration required.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
