Job Summary:
Boone County Health Center is seeking compassionate, dedicated Daycare Providers to join our team. The Daycare Provider is responsible for offering high-quality care for children ranging from six weeks to 12 years old. This role ensures the well-being, development, and safety of each child while meeting the needs of their parents. The Daycare Provider will adhere to State of Nebraska regulations and maintain a nurturing and positive environment for children in our care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification or willing to obtain upon hire.
- Certified in First Aid or willing to obtain upon hire.
- Must be fingerprinted by Nebraska State Patrol upon hire.
- Clearance with the State of Nebraska Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect.
- Patience, love, and care for children with the ability to adapt to various levels of behavioral and physical needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Plans and Leads Activities:
- Organizes and leads recreational and educational activities for children.
- Escorts children to designated activities, such as outdoor play, walks, and community events.
- Teaches age-appropriate activities such as games, reading, arts, and crafts to foster intellectual, social, emotional, and motor development.
- Ensures continuous supervision and safety of children, maintaining state-required child-to-staff ratios.

Promotes Health and Personal Habits:
- Teaches children healthy habits including eating, resting, and toileting.
- Develops positive, respectful relationships with children, promoting self-esteem and good behavior.
- Utilizes positive discipline techniques like redirection, open communication, and logical consequences.
- Encourages children to help clean up after activities and take care of their environment.

Assists with Meal Preparation and Cleanliness:
- Serves meals and snacks to children, ensuring proper nutrition.
- Maintains a clean and organized classroom environment by performing cleaning duties such as washing dishes, organizing toys, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Adheres to health and hygiene standards, including diaper-changing procedures and hand washing.

Develops Communication with Parents and Team:
- Communicates daily with parents, providing updates on children's activities and any needs.
- Completes daily reports and logs to inform parents and colleagues about the child’s day.
- Fosters a positive, team-oriented environment through strong interpersonal relationships with parents, co-workers, and management.

Commitment to Professional Development:
- Pursues personal educational objectives to maintain knowledge and meet licensing standards.
- Participates in training and development opportunities (minimum of 12 hours per licensure year).
- Maintains CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Engages in performance improvement activities and staff meetings to enhance service delivery.
