POSITION SUMMARY:

Work across functional boundaries to understand the business and develop and present financial analyses/models and recommendations to support business decision making and planning. This position works closely with senior business management to develop reporting, forecasts, budgets, and other financial tools. This position uses modeling tools to assess business opportunities, analyze historical results, develop strategic plans and initiatives and identify notable trends. Be a valued and trusted business partner within the finance team and across the breadth of the full business team.

POSITION SCOPE:

The scope of responsibility for this position includes internal financial reporting, financial planning and analysis. The position will also require some level of accounting proficiency, including knowledge of consolidations. The position will require the ability to work closely with and understand the accounting functions. He/She may be tasked with contributing to decisions involving significant monetary expenditures and revenue-generating opportunities. Specific activities include but are not limited to the following:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position):

  • Understanding the business and related markets and the related financial components of the business.

  • Prepare analyses, reports and presentations using software including Applix TM1, COGNOS, Excel, Oracle, ADI, and PowerPoint.

  • Prepare Monthly Financial Reports, Analysis & Reporting Packages in support of the Spine Fixation SBU.

  • Monitor and analyze expenditures vs. plan, prepare forecasts and budget schedules.

  • Prepare ad hoc reporting based on senior business management’s requests.

  • Interpret information and present findings and recommendations to management.

  • Understanding the business and related markets and the related financial components of the business.

  • Close involvement in the monthly accounting closing processes to understand business financial results and perform budget analysis.

  • Work in concert with business management and finance to develop sales, expense and income forecasts and budgets.

  • Understand and apply advanced financial tools, such as Excel statistical analysis and discounted cash flow. Lead financial decision process for business development opportunities.

  • Exhibit professional and collaborative approach with both internal and external business customers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills with PowerPoint

  • Experience developing internal monthly KPI, financial and dashboard reporting packages

  • Strong database report writing skills, preferably with COGNOS.

  • Detail oriented, accurate and able to work effectively under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Experience in developing and understanding complex business decision models using DCF, ROI, IRR, sensitivity analysis, statistical analysis and other.

  • ERP system experience, preferably with Oracle.

  • Ability to organize time and tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.

  • Outstanding work ethic and passion for exceeding expectations.

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical area such as accounting or finance

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not necessary but preferred):

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred

  • Experience automating processes using VBA, SQL, etc.

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to stand, walk and use business equipment daily such as P.C., copier, fax, telephone, etc.; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 20 lbs.

  • Eyesight and hearing must be correctable to standard level.

  • Travel required from 5-10%, therefore must be able to utilize airplane, taxi and car.
