About This Position
Reports to the Director, Oncology Services. Responsible for managing the work of the infusion center staff, ensuring high quality patient care and efficient day-to-day operations of the department. Assists with the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures to improve quality and efficiency as well as the coordination, support and oversight of clinical and administrative activities.

Manages the day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center department by:
- Participating in the development and implementation of short- and long-term goals and objectives for the department.
- Assisting the Director with the development of the annual budget and with administration of the budget to meet agreed upon goals and objectives.
- Assisting with the development, implementation and enforcement of departmental policies, procedures and standards for quality and efficiency.
- Scheduling and assigning workload to the staff (giving particular consideration to the priority of patients' needs), re-establishing priorities, adjusting schedules and reassigning work as necessary.
- Ensuring that the staff is provided with appropriate educational opportunities in order to maintain and advance their competencies, in conjunction with the clinical coordinator. Also providing a comprehensive orientation and training for new staff.
- Assuming administrative responsibility of the department in the absence of the Director.
- Ensuring that the accreditation standards established by various regulatory bodies (i.e., JCAHO, State Board of Health, COC, QOPI, etc.) are maintained.
- Upholding strong billing/coding/documentation practices with goal of eliminating denials and a building strong revenue cycle process.
Makes regular patient care rounds to ensure infusion therapy procedures are properly implemented and oversees patient care by:
- Observing care delivery to ensure appropriateness of nursing care.
- Serving as a technical resource to staff with regard to treatment and equipment.
- Conferring with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and others on the patient care team regarding difficult or unusual cases.
- Assists with service recovery, resolving customer concerns, conducting investigations and intervening when immediate attention is needed and reporting results to the appropriate person.
- Ensuring that appropriate records are maintained for services provided.
- Ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available to meet the needs of the area.
- Participating in clinical and support duties as necessary.
Assists with managing the overall operations of the department by:
- Accumulating required continuing education credits to remain in good standing by the appropriate certification bodies.
- Maintaining professional affiliations as appropriate.
- Meeting with technical and service staff on a regular basis to address their questions/concerns and upholding high employee engagement satisfaction.
- Preparing and giving performance appraisals, coaching and, if necessary, disciplining staff as directed.
- Participating in interviewing and the selection of new staff.
- Conducting product analysis and pursuing cost saving initiatives.
- Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
- Participating in nursing, hospital and/or community committees and activities relating to infusion practices.

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR), and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, nursing, health administration, business or related field. A minimum of three to five years of job-related experience, including management or leadership role also required. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Patient care area requiring excessive walking, standing and the ability to communicate and visually monitor the patient during treatment.
- Adaptability to long periods of sitting while working on administrative needs, with the flexibility to change priorities to help as a resource when needed.
Physical Demands
- Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position.
- This is an on-site position with responsibility to be available for staff or issues as they arise throughout the normal hours of operation.
