Payroll Specialist
We are a large, multi‑state construction company with weekly payroll, prevailing wage projects, multi‑jurisdiction taxes, per diem, and job‑costed labor tied to billing. We use Paycor for payroll and Sage Intacct for project accounting. We are seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing, compliance, and system administration.

We are a large, multi‑state construction company with weekly payroll, prevailing wage projects, multi‑jurisdiction taxes, per diem, and job‑costed labor tied to billing. We use Paycor for payroll and Sage Intacct for project accounting. We are seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing, compliance, and system administration.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for hourly and executive employees.
- Validate timecards, shift differentials, slab codes, and per diem.
- Upload payroll hours from Paycor to Sage Intacct for job‑costing.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, audits, and certified payroll (CPR).
- Review new hire setups: PTO, taxes, workers' comp, departments.
- Set up jobs, work locations, travel rules, and local tax profiles in Paycor.
- Maintain Intacct job lookup and per diem tables.
- Support prevailing wage requirements and multi‑state tax compliance.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations, OCIP reports, and OSHA hours.
- Assist project managers with job‑cost and labor reporting.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and field teams on payroll needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–4 years of payroll experience (construction preferred).
- Experience with Paycor or similar payroll software.
- Strong understanding of multi‑state payroll and tax rules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with Sage Intacct or payroll‑to‑ERP integrations.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage, CPR, and job‑costing.
- CPP or FPC certification (or willingness to pursue).
