About This Position
Job Summary:
The Metal Stamping Operator C sets up and operates a progressive stamping operation in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The job also controls and adjusts machine settings to complete simple tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Set up and run a coil metal de-coiler.
Set up and run a material feeder/straightener.
Set up and run an Open Back Inclinable (OBI) stamping press with various progressive stamping dies.
Set up and run deburring/tumbling equipment.
Operate other equipment associated with metal stamping production needs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
Ability to apply fractions, addition, subtraction, division and decimals, and common fractions in all units of measure.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Ability to use precision measuring equipment and mechanical equipment and tools.
Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Efficient time management skills.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or general education (GED) is required.
One to three years of related experience and/or training.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Understand and have the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
Forklift certification.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up 35-50 pounds. Charles Industries weight rule: 35 lbs. and under can be lifted alone. 35 - 50 lbs. can be lifted by one person if they feel comfortable doing so. 50 lbs. or more requires the employee to get assistance or use a lifting device. (i.e. pallet jack, forklift, scissor table, buddy system).
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions.
The employee regularly works near moving, vibrating mechanical equipment, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and exposed to minimal risk of electrical shock.
Noise level is usually loud; hearing protection and testing are required. PPE required.
Safety shoes/boots are required.
Working in the Metal Stamping department may require employee to occasionally work around chemicals as defined in the work instruction for the plating operation area.
