AWARE is hiring Intensive Support and Crisis Stabilization Care Professionals. As a Crisis Stabilization Support Professional, you will provide short-term, intensive support to adults experiencing a mental health crisis. Your work will help individuals stabilize, remain safely in the least restrictive environment, and successfully transition back to their homes and communities.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Crisis Intervention & Stabilization

Provide direct support during psychiatric or behavioral crises using approved de-escalation techniques, behavior management strategies, and safety planning consistent with Crisis Stabilization services under Montana DPHHS ARMs.

Daily Living Support
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal care, hygiene, feeding, and medication monitoring/management (per agency policy) to help maintain stability and safety.

Skill Building & Behavioral Coaching
Teach and reinforce coping skills, social skills, and independent living skills to promote resilience and reduce future crises.

Monitoring & Safety
Help maintain a safe, structured environment, including ongoing monitoring when required in residential or community-based crisis settings.

Care Coordination
Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams, families, community providers, and schools to support coordinated care, stabilization, and transition/discharge planning.

Transportation & Community Integration
Accompany individuals to appointments, services, and community activities as part of their stabilization and recovery plan.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of daily activities, changes in status, incidents, and progress toward treatment and stabilization goals.

Advocacy
Support individual rights, promote self-advocacy, and help ensure services are person-centered and trauma informed.

Implementation of Plans
Implement and follow Individual Treatment Plans, Behavior Management Plans, Independent Living Plans, and Personal Support Plans while upholding AWARE’s Unconditional Care philosophy.

Health & Safety Interventions
Observe, report, and record changes in physical, emotional, and behavioral status. Use H.E.L.P. strategies (including approved therapeutic holds) when an individual is a danger to self or others and provide basic First Aid and/or CPR when needed.

Training & Team Participation
Attend and participate in required trainings, in-services, staff meetings, and assigned committees.

Talents, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to implement treatment and support plans as written.
  • Competence in supporting ADLs, including personal hygiene, grooming, feeding, toileting, mobility, and medication monitoring (per agency policy).
  • Skill in teaching and reinforcing coping, social, and independent living skills.
  • Ability to follow and consistently apply structured behavioral interventions and reinforcement systems.
  • Capacity to remain calm, professional, and compassionate during crises.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or HSE (GED) required.
  • Previous employment experience in human services, health care, education, or related fields preferred.

Licensing/Certification

  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid Montana Driver’s License.
  • Must meet acceptable driving record standards.
  • Must pass required criminal and protective services background checks.
