Position Highlights:
The Lead Physician Liaison serves as a vital link between Moffitt Cancer Center and referring physicians. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with physicians, practices, and healthcare partners to drive new patient referrals, enhance communication, and support Moffitt’s strategic growth goals. The Physician Liaison actively promotes all of Moffitt’s service lines within their assigned territory and works to increase new patient referrals to both the hospital and outpatient centers.
The Lead Physician Liaison is a promotion from the Sr. Physician Liaison position. The Lead Physician Liaison will have achieved 7+ years of "Surpassed Performance" as a Moffitt Physician Liaison. The Lead Physician Liaison works independently to meet the goals of their territory and perform job functions of the Physician Liaison, while also supporting the Field Marketing Director with leadership responsibilities. The role requires more in office time and more meetings which will require the liaison to be uber efficient with Field responsibilities.
The Lead Physician Liaison is a subject matter expert in all aspects of the liaison role and will serve as a mentor for the liaison team when needed and help to onboard new team members. The Lead Physician Liaison will be the point of contact for fiscal year planning, territory analysis and strategy working alongside the Field Marketing Director. The role will be able to fill in for the director when needed.
Responsibilities:
Partnership and Collaboration
- The Lead Physician Liaison will support the Field Marketing Director and be included in operational meetings, strategy planning and forecasting. There will be opportunities to present to. Executive Leadership and work with various institute leaders on behalf of the liaison and greater marketing teams.
- The Lead Physician Liaison will be expected to cover for the Field Marketing Director if needed and be confident in all aspects of Field Marketing.
- The Lead Physician Liaison will collaborate with internal departments on behalf of the liaison team as needed. (for example: Intake, Financial Clearance, Business Office, Scheduling, clinical teams, and administration) to streamline referral processes and ensure physician satisfaction.
- The Lead Physician Liaisons will work closely with other marketing colleagues and department chairs to ensure consistent messaging and deliverables.
- In the Lead Physician Liaison role, there is more contact with external vendors and responsibility to connect with outside associations for example, BVK - Moffitt's ad agency, Pharma Partners, FLASCO, HCMA, and other Health Care Facility Leaders. Lead Physician Liaisons may be asked to represent the Liaison Team in external meetings.
Operations
- The Lead Physician Liaison will have additional administrative duties while still maintaining territory responsibilities.
- Lead Physican Liaison will be asked to run team meetings, attend department meetings, prep for and present as needed.
- Provide essential insights to guide operational decisions and ensure alignment with community needs.
Mentoring and Onboarding
- Oversite of onboarding of new team members.
- Serve as a resource for team members who need mentoring and/or development.
Field Based Outreach
- The Lead is expected to be an Outreach Expert with well-developed MMG relationships. The Lead is also expected to oversee and deliver consistent outreach events for all clinics to support NP growth.
- The Lead Physician Liaison is still responsible for the daily physician liaison job functions:
- Conduct regular outreach through in-person visits, calls, and virtual meetings to promote services and gather feedback.
- Job requires driving to territory and visiting practices in the community to build relationships and achieve reach and frequency goals.
- Data entry: capture field and outreach activities and referral info in CRM (Salesforce)
- Analyze referral data provided by Planning team and track trends to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement. Share field intel as needed.
- Support new provider onboarding by introducing them to referring physicians and facilitating practice integration
- Market new services per clinic.
- Host & Attend Events - coordinate educational events, tours, or CME programs in territory for referring providers to highlight new services or specialists.
Credential and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Healthcare or related field required.
- Valid FL Drivers License.
- Seven (7) years in the Physician Liaison role at Moffitt, with a "surpasses" on the most recent annual evaluation and a successful track record of MMG Outreach and NP volumes in the territory. Inclusive of the 7 years, must have a minimum of 1 year serving as a project lead.
Preferred Experience
- Ten (10) years of sales experience in a field-based professional health care, pharmaceutical or medical device role with demonstrated marketing and sales performance in addition to above listed experience.
