Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Norfolk, Virginia, featuring 300 Independent Living units, a 33-bed Skilled Nursing unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living unit, and a 34-bed Memory Support unit.

We are seeking a highly qualified, part- and full- time Certified Nursing Aides to join our team to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population.

Current shifts available:

  • 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Part-Time and Full-Time)
  • 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Part-Time and Full-Time)
  • 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Part-Time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow individualized care plans for each resident and report any changes in condition to the assigned nurse or RN leadership immediately. Document all care by the end of each shift.
  • Check and record vital signs and weights as assigned; assist with bowel and bladder needs. Record intake and output for residents on I&O monitoring.
  • Provide or assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, oral care, toileting, dressing, feeding, and grooming.
  • Perform restorative nursing techniques, including proper positioning, ADL training, and passive range of motion exercises. Turn and position high-risk or immobile residents per schedule and provide preventive skin care.
  • Assist residents with reality orientation, redirection, and validation techniques as needed.
  • Encourage and assist residents to participate in recreational activities and help them attend scheduled events.
  • Support residents with transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics, gait belts, back supports, and mechanical devices. Assist staff with heavy lifting and safe use of equipment per policy and physician orders.
  • Provide transportation for residents within the facility and occasionally to off-site appointments.
  • Assist with resident admissions and discharges following facility procedures and respond to urgent calls as needed.
  • Provide post-mortem care as directed by nursing staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in in-service training and staff meetings.
  • Sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience; long-term care experience preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and medical supplies/equipment.
  • Positive, engaging demeanor with a genuine interest in working with elderly and/or disabled individuals.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and promptly.
  • Strong communication skills to interact tactfully and effectively with staff, residents, families, visitors, and the public.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs. and perform tasks including sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, overhead reaching, pushing/pulling, and grasping.
