On-call Friday at 5:00 PM through Monday at 9:00 AM with on-site requirements
SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a full-time Weekend Supervisor for a homeless shelter in Lindenhurst, NY. The Weekend Supervisor is responsible to ensure effective and efficient shelter operations throughout the weekend for the program. This position provides leadership in directing services and support to all clients and weekend staff, working in coordination with the security staff to ensure adherence to shelter policies and procedures. Responsibilities include conflict resolution, crisis intervention and making sure all staff are working in collaboration to maintain a safe environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and conducting supervisions and performance appraisals.
- Ensure effective shelter operations during the weekend.
- On-call Friday 5:00pm to Monday 9:00am.
- Supervise all weekend shelter staff.
- Assist clients on intake procedures, admission requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee weekend client intakes and unit assignments.
- Coordinate unit assignments to accommodate family size.
- Oversee unit inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Manage weekend Pantry.
- Oversee all weekend programs and activities.
- Document all incident reports for the shelter and notify DSS.
- Review weekend staff’s incident reports and notify the appropriate FSL staff of all violations of policies and procedures for follow-up.
- Work collaboratively with the staff to maintain a safe shelter environment.
- Assist with curfew checks, as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required in Human Services or related field.
At least 3 years of related experience required.
Experience working in a homeless shelter required.
Previous Supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required.
Strong organizational and time-management skills required.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required.
Spanish fluency preferred.
Valid, clean New York State Driver’s License required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as moderate lifting.
Must be able to go up and down stairs.
