Quoting Specialist at Stowers Machinery Corporation – Knoxville, Tennessee

A Quoting Specialist creates accurate, competitive price quotes for customers by analyzing requirements, collaborating with sales/procurement, and managing bid packages, ensuring profitability while meeting client needs using strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, often with CRM/ERP software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quote Preparation: Review customer requests, analyze technical/commercial requirements, and generate detailed price quotations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with sales, procurement, and product teams to define strategy, clarify requirements, and gather pricing.
• Proposal Submission: Compile final proposals with all necessary documentation and submit them for final approval.
• Customer/Sales Support: Clarify bid details, answer questions, and manage quote follow-ups, including win/loss analysis.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate customer and quote information in CRM/quoting systems.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Technical Aptitude: Ability to understand product specifications, engineering drawings, and industry-specific needs.
• Software Proficiency: Expertise in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication (written/verbal), negotiation, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Technical understanding of Caterpillar products and repair processes beneficial.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in service quoting, product support, or a related role within heavy equipment or machinery industries.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Mental agility to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to changing conditions.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 25 lbs).
• High level of concentration and attention to detail.

Work Environment:

• Office-based with frequent communication.
• Fast-paced and dynamic, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
• The Quoting Specialist reports directly to the Manager-Service Department Quoting and works closely with Sales, Operations, and Product Support Sales Representatives.

Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, employees must be careful while performing onsite services.
