Dialysis/Vascular Nurse at Major Hospital – Shelbyville, Indiana

The Vascular Access RN provides patient care functions and utilization of resources which support the mission and vision of MHP, including assessing patients to determine vascular therapy needs and placing appropriate devices using INS standards of care. Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes infusion priorities according to patient age, symptoms and psychological needs. Ensures department compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

The Nurse will utilize specialized knowledge and skills to facilitate care for patients with end stage renal disease and/or kidney disease located on the Inpatient Care Unit. The nurse is responsible for quality care parameters and vascular access management of the Inpatient dialysis patients. The nurse is an experienced dialysis professional with expert cannulation skills, vascular access management and knowledge in data analysis. The nurse is responsible for providing patient education and coordination of care through the healthcare continuum; responsible for administering nursing care to patients via the nursing process; assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating; available as a specialty resource for collaboration of care with the Inpatient Care Team and the nephrologist. They are responsible for identifying process improvement areas and collaborating with other team members to resolve unfavorable outcomes.
