About This Position
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, and values, the Director of Perioperative Services functions under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and maintains 24-hour accountability for the operational, clinical, financial, and strategic leadership of Perioperative Services, including Pre-Admission Testing, Surgical Outpatient Unit, Operating, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Endoscopy, Anesthesia, and Central Sterile Processing. The Director is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, high- quality patient care across the perioperative continuum while optimizing throughput, surgical case flow, block utilization and resource management. This role collaboratively partners with surgeons, anesthesia, procedural physicians, and executive leadership to support service line growth, physician engagement, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence. The Director ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards including CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission standards, AORN guidelines, and infection prevention best practices. The Director collaboratively leads quality improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, patient safety, SSI reduction, reprocessing compliance, supply chain stewardship, and patient / physician satisfaction metrics. The Director will be responsible for, but not limited to capital planning and prioritization, implant cost management, supply chain standardization, and revenue cycle awareness.
Education: Must have a BSN. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: A valid, unrestricted RN license from the Ohio Board of Nursing is required. BLS and ACLS is required prior to employment. Nursing certification is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of surgical services clinical experience is required. Previous supervisory/management experience is required.
Skills: Must have strong critical thinking, negotiation, and analytical skills. Must also have exceptional interpersonal skills including the demonstrated ability to persuade through consensus-building and the ability to interact effectively with all internal and external customers. Demonstrated experience in successful project management and service line development and success with unit based operational capital budgeting are required. Also required are evidence of process improvement/innovation and problem solving through critical and creative thinking. Demonstrated experience in successful project management and service line development and a passion for patient care are also required.
