About This Position

SUMMARY

The Assistant Butcher Shop Manager assists the Butcher Shop Manager with supervising department operations including but not limited to maximizing gross margins, promoting sales, controlling inventory and expenses. The Assistant Butcher Shop Manager's responsibilities are assisting the Butcher Shop Manager cover the overall operation and success of the butcher shop, gaining product knowledge and working in a safe manner while fostering the Niemann Harvest Market culture

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Butcher Shop Manager in developing, implementing and coordinating aggressive and creative merchandising plans which maximize sales and varietyAssists with production, stocking and display buildingAssists the Butcher Shop Manager in supervising the butcher shop associates to ensure efficient labor utilization and effectiveness in meeting department objectivesResponsible for assisting the Butcher Shop Manager in receiving, invoicing, pricing, shrink control and inventory to ensure proper product control and that gross profit goals are metSupervises department safety and sanitation programsResponsible for pulling the meat cases by color, quality and datesPerforms Butcher Shop Manager duties as needed or assignedTeaches, trains, and develops other AssociatesPromotes and supports established programsFollows all Health Code guidelinesFollows safety policies and procedures; is a safety role modelOther duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assists with supervising Associates in the Butcher Shop in the absence of the Butcher Shop Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • One to three months related experience and/or training;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with Supermarket math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication), percentages, distribution, penetration, gross profit, and Sales Per Associate Hour

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Food Handler's Certification as required by State Law provided at store level
