The Client Engagement Director will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex scientific and business objectives into clear, actionable strategies that ensure exceptional client satisfaction. This position combines hands-on leadership with strategic oversight, managing multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating across multiple workstreams. You will play a central role in shaping client engagement, delivering innovative solutions, and fostering long-term partnerships while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Serve as the primary client contact, cultivating trusted, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Lead strategic planning and contribute to medical communications roadmaps aligned to brand objectives and scientific strategy.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of client brands, therapeutic areas, clinical data, and market dynamics to guide project execution.
- Identify evolving client needs, recommend innovative solutions, and drive organic growth to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Oversee financial health of assigned accounts, including forecasting, margin management, and timely reconciliations.
- Guide cross-functional teams in delivering medical communications tactics such as publications, advisory boards, congress activities, speaker programs, MSL materials, omnichannel initiatives, and digital campaigns.
- Ensure projects are delivered on scope, on time, on budget, and in compliance with industry standards, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
- Mentor and develop Manager- and Coordinator-level staff through coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Communications, Marketing, Life Sciences, or related field preferred); advanced degree a plus.
- 8–10+ years of experience in medical communications, medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of the life sciences industry, therapeutic landscapes, and drug development process.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, publications planning, congress strategy, and tactical medical communications initiatives.
- Advanced financial acumen, including account forecasting, SOW development, and profitability management.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with executive-level client presence.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and performance management capabilities.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Knowledge of compliance standards including PhRMA and Open Payments guidelines.
- Competitive salary range: $120,000 – $140,000 CAD annually.
