Job Summary
The Front Waiter, along with Front of House roles including Servers, Server Assistants, FOH Captains, Baristas, and Food Runners, plays a key role in delivering elevated, seamless dining experiences by supporting the Captain and overall service team throughout each shift. This collective team ensures guests receive attentive, polished hospitality with precise timing, strong menu knowledge, and genuine engagement rooted in Chesapeake storytelling. Working in close coordination, these roles contribute to the overall flow of service by anticipating guest needs, executing food and beverage delivery with care, and maintaining refined service standards. This position grouping is ideal for individuals passionate about luxury hospitality and seeking growth within a fine dining environment while contributing to a cohesive and highly attentive service experience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this role.Supports the Captain and Front of House team, including Servers, Server Assistants, FOH Captains, Baristas, and Food Runners, in delivering refined, attentive service that ensures guests feel welcomed, valued, and well cared for.Guides guests through menu offerings with confidence, including local ingredients, seasonal dishes, and Chesapeake-inspired culinary stories.Delivers food and beverages with accuracy, professionalism, and proper service etiquette across all FOH positions and service responsibilities.Anticipates guest needs by refilling beverages, clearing plates, resetting tables, and maintaining smooth service flow.Assists with wine, coffee, and beverage service in accordance with training and established standards across service roles.Ensures the dining room is properly set and maintained to Forbes and luxury hospitality standards.Maintains cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all service areas throughout the shift across all assigned FOH stations.Completes side work, setup, and breakdown responsibilities efficiently to support smooth operations for Servers, Server Assistants, Food Runners, Baristas, and Captains.Communicates effectively with Captains, Servers, Server Assistants, FOH Captains, Baristas, Food Runners, Hosts, and Culinary team members.Participates in pre-shift meetings and applies knowledge of menu updates, specials, and service expectations.Maintains strong knowledge of menu items, sourcing, allergens, and preparation methods to support all FOH roles.Supports beverage knowledge including wines, cocktails, coffee offerings, and non-alcoholic selections.Represents The Tides Inn brand through warm, thoughtful, and professional guest interactions across all Front of House roles.Serves as an ambassador of Chesapeake culture, sustainability efforts, and local purveyor relationships.Supports team collaboration by assisting coworkers across all FOH positions and contributing to a positive service environment.Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

1–3 years of experience in upscale or fine dining service; luxury resort experience preferred.
Strong communication skills with a polished and professional demeanor.
Knowledge of elevated service standards, table etiquette, and dining room operations.
Interest in regional cuisine, wine, and hospitality storytelling.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and attention to detail.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ability to lift and carry trays or equipment up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
High School Diploma or equivalent.
