JOB TITLE: Material & Kitting Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Stores
REPORTING TO: General Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
Lead inventory control and kitting operations within a high-mix, low-volume PCBA manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate inventory, timely and precise kitting, and seamless material flow to support production schedules and minimize line disruptions.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Lead daily inventory control and kitting operations to support fast-paced PCBA production.
- Ensure kits are built accurately, completely, and on time to meet production schedules and prevent line downtime.
- Partner closely with the Master Scheduler, Production, and Test teams to prioritize and adjust material flow based on real-time needs.
- Drive inventory accuracy across all material types (electronic components, WIP, subassemblies, finished goods, consignment) through disciplined cycle counting and reconciliation.
- Own and improve KPIs including:
- Inventory accuracy
- Kitting accuracy
- Material shortages / line stops
- Kit turnaround time
- Oversee receiving and coordinate incoming inspection with Quality to ensure timely material availability and proper disposition.
- Ensure strict lot control, traceability, and component handling practices.
- Maintain accurate material transactions and location control within Macola ERP, ensuring system-to-floor alignment at all times.
- Establish and enforce standards for all inventory transactions (receiving, kitting, issuing, transfers, returns, stock purges).
- Drive continuous improvement in materials flow using Lean principles — focus on reducing shortages, excess handling, and inefficiencies in kitting.
- Lead SQCD and 5S routines within the materials area to drive accountability and operational discipline.
- Develop and maintain standardized work instructions; train team members on best practices for inventory control and kitting.
- Support and lead physical inventory and audit readiness, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Oversee material movement across production areas as needed.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Manage team performance, staffing, and payroll reporting.
- Support additional supply chain and operations initiatives as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5+ years of experience in inventory control, kitting, or materials management in a PCBA/electronics manufacturing environment.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of:
- Electronic components and material handling
- Inventory accuracy and cycle counting
- Kitting in high-mix production environments
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Experience with Macola or similar ERP/MRP systems
- Strong Excel/data tracking capability
- Experience reducing material shortages and line disruptions
- Lean / Six Sigma experience
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk the production floor regularly
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Adequate vision and hearing for safe job performance
