Physician Assistant - Geriatrics in ROCHESTER, New York at Rochester Regional Health

SUMMARY

As a Physician Assistant in Geriatrics, you’ll provide comprehensive primary and acute care to older adults across both Long-Term Care and Assisted Living settings. This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while managing a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions. You’ll work alongside a supportive team with strong onboarding and collaboration with nursing, respiratory therapy, facility staff, and experienced geriatric physicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patient Care. Provide primary and acute care for geriatric patients, including assessment and management of acute and chronic conditions, physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and follow-up care

• Long-Term Care. Provide care 2–3 days per week at Unity Living Center, including management of long-term care residents and patients requiring long-term ventilator support in collaboration with respiratory therapy

• Assisted Living. Provide primary care 2–3 days per week to residents in assisted living settings, working closely with facility staff and the Geriatric Medical Director

• Care Coordination. Collaborate with nursing, respiratory therapy, facility staff, physicians, and other members of the care team to coordinate comprehensive patient care

• Documentation. Maintain accurate medical records, complete required documentation, and monitor patient response to treatment

• BS: Physician Assistant (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

• PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

PAY RANGE: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00
