About This Position

Peninsula Plastics is rapidly expanding and so is our Pattern Shop! We are looking to add an additional worker on our 1st shift to fill the role of Pattern Shop Associate.

Description:

Our company specializes in manufacturing re-usable plastic packaging and is a leader in the thermoforming industry. As a Pattern Shop Associate you will be creating wood patterns, fabricating metal tools for production, and assisting daily operations. The ideal candidate has excellent woodworking skills, metal working skills, and is eager to learn and teach.

Location: 1200 Auburn Ave, Pontiac, MI 48342

Shift: 1st shift from 6:00AM to 4:30PM Monday to Friday

Reports to: Pattern Shop Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Produce wood patterns for Prototyping
  • Convert aluminum foundry castings into a production ready tool
  • Create initial molds based on specification from the design team, blueprints or schematics
  • Set up equipment
  • Cut and shape tools with lathes, presses and cutting machines
  • Monitor the tools used in the machine to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs
  • Create/Modify/Repair fixtures used to make thermoformed plastic components.
  • Fill out ISO and procedure driven documentation.
  • Perform and document calculations used to judge quality during production.
  • Support production team with the tools that Pattern Shop helps to create.
  • Maintain inventory of items needed to complete jobs on your schedule.

    • Qualifications:

  • Ability to use measuring equipment (Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Steel Rules, etc.)
  • Expert in the use of Pneumatic tools: Die Grinder, 90 Degree Grinder/Drill, etc.
  • Experience with band Saw, Table Saw, and Disk Grinder
  • Bridgeport preferred but not required.
  • Must have your own tools – calipers, tape measures, micrometers, etc.
  • Able to work independently on projects and as a member of a team
  • Great motivational and people skills
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be willing to learn new things
  • Ability to think outside the box
