About This Position
The Professor is a member of the ranked faculty and supports the department’s mission by delivering high-quality teaching, engaging students in their academic development, andmaintainingan ongoing record of professional productivityappropriate tothe discipline and in line with the mission of Southwestern Seminary. The Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and include carrying a full teaching load during the academic year,advisingstudents as assigned, andparticipatingin departmental and institutional service. The rank of Professors isdesignatedtoafacultymemberwho is credentialed in their discipline and is regarded as a prominent teacher, scholar, and practitioner in their field of study.The Professorhasdemonstrateda sustainedspecial ability ata high levelof faculty performance in the areas of classroom instruction, scholarship and research, student advising, and service to the institution.
Teaching roles must fully embraces without reservation and teaches according to: the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the Danvers Statement, and the Nashville Statement.
Qualified candidates will be asked to sign confessional documents, upload transcripts and ordination certificate (if applicable) in the initial review phase.
- Developsandimplementscourse curricula that reflect current trends and best practices in the field.
- Prepares and bears responsibility for all course content for assigned courses.
- Delivers excellent course content and high-quality instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels in the respective discipline.
- Manages allgrading ofcoursesin a timely manner.
- Engagesin scholarly research and publish findings in reputable academic journals.
- Participatesin curriculum and program development and assessment.
- Maintains available office hours for student support and success, both academically and spiritually, and mentors and advises students in academic and professional development.
- Contribute to the advancement of the institution's mission and goals.
- Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional growth in leadership and ministry effectiveness.
- Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Administration.
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in the respective field from an accredited institution.
- Fully embraces without reservation and teaches according to: the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the Danvers Statement, and the Nashville Statement.
- Experience in Higher Education and the field of study with excellence in teaching (both in class and online) and a commitment to student success.
- A strong record of research productivity and potential for future scholarly contributions.
- Church ministry experience and involvement is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong work ethic and initiative; ability to operate with minimal supervision.
- Exemplary social skills with an ability to be a part of and contribute to a collaborative team and demonstrate love and appreciation for a diverse group of students from all backgrounds and age groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly and simply articulate the value propositions of SWBTS.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with higher education software (e.g., SEVIS, Colleague, Slate) preferred.
- Valid U.S. passport, U.S. Citizenship, or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) is required due to government regulations.
- Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.
- Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.
