Summary
The Midway Motors Auto Group is seeking an Entry-Level Technician to perform routine vehicle maintenance jobs and light repairs.
Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist technician as necessary.
- Conduct safety inspections and perform general maintenance and minor repairs, as instructed.
- Perform work described in the work orders efficiently and accurately, based on the dealer’s and manufacturer’s standards.
- Restock supplies, at the request of the technicians or the service department manager.
- Report defective or poorly functioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Attend training courses and department meetings. Participate in training programs and attend school and events sponsored by the manufacturer.
- Use all tools and equipment safely.
- Contact parts department to obtain the necessary parts.
- Store and label parts if the work is under warranty, or if the customer requests that this be done.
- Examine the vehicle assigned to determine if additional maintenance or safety work is required or recommended.
- Contact the service advisor and/or the service manager as soon as possible if additional work is required, if the work described is unnecessary, or if the repairs cannot be done by the established deadline.
- Document all work performed and recommended in the work order.
- Road test vehicles.
- Stay up-to-date on the manufacturer’s technical bulletins.
- Report defective or poorly functioning equipment to supervisor.
- See to the cleanliness of the customers’ cars. Report any incident which may affect the appearance or condition of a car to the service advisor and/or the service manager, as soon as possible.
- Ensure that the shop is clean and tidy.
- Properly care for and maintain all the tools and manuals belonging to the dealership and take responsibility for them; return them to the proper location in the same condition as when they were received.
- On request, pick up parts from the parts department.
- Keep abreast of, understand and follow federal and state regulations as well as municipal bylaws which govern the removal of hazardous waste, etc.; understand and follow them.
- Report any safety issues to management as soon as possible.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform other tasks, based on management requirements and instructions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three months automotive industry work experience
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Must be able to wear required uniform and required safety equipment (both provided by the company).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary certificate
- Ability to repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
- Determine causes of operating errors and decide what to do about it.
- Control operations of equipment or systems.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Consider relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work station as well as maintain the general shop area.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to stand for a majority of scheduled shift, as well as frequently walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision as well as color vision. Employee will frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift 50 pounds, and rarely lift 100 pounds with assistance.
