GENERAL FUNCTION:
Performs custodial tasks on campus facilities and grounds to ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and efficient operation of the campus property. Must be able to work as a team or independently.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This position is a generalist with responsibility to perform custodial duties for the Facilities Management Department in maintaining building cleanliness, appearance and sanitation.
Examples Of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs general cleaning, sanitizing, and dusting on common areas, restrooms, bathrooms, locker rooms, offices, labs, shops, and classrooms
Ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as on a team
Ability to mix, handle and dispense cleaning agents
Performs floor care by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing and buffing in campus buildings
Stocks toiletries, paper towels and other supplies
Disposes trash and empties recycling bins indoors and outdoors
Performs grounds duties as assigned, such as sweeping sidewalks, shoveling snow and ice, spreading ice melt, and collecting trash.
Ensures equipment and lights are off, and premises locked after hours.
Conducts event setups and tear downs
Other Duties as Assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred to have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by our underwriter
Must have valid driver’s license.
Must have knowledge or willingness to learn methods and the tools involved in using cleaning machines, cleaning chemicals, and prioritizing tasks
Must have ability to work in physically exerting activities.
Must be able to work off a ladder and/or lift occasionally
Preferred basic ability to read, write and understand English language
Preferred experience in cleaning, custodial, janitorial, or related field
Preferred experience in floor care to include stripping, waxing, and buffing
PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work involves moderate and sometimes vigorous physical activity. There is frequent walking, standing, and lifting required. There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 30 lbs.) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
