Powerplant Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to create, edit and update engine shop workscopes. This position is responsible for determining customer technical needs for each engine received and effectively flowing those requirements to the shop. The workscope engineer must interface with customers, technical resources and mechanics to provide maintenance instructions that comply with all regulatory and safety guidelines, while providing the most cost-effective solution. Additional engineering duties and/or projects will be assigned as required.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
- Establishes workscope and templates that meet all regulatory and customer requirements
- Follow customer shop visits in the shop and adjust, update or modify workscopes as the engine is overhauled
- Assess and provide technical directions based on shop findings.
- Interact with customers to support technical issues.
- Provide technical guidance for new customer campaigns
- Stay current on product technical and regulatory changes
- Support shop on turn time and cost target
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for turbofan engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities
- Analyze engine performance data, shop findings, and reliability trends to identify issues and improvements
- Develop and revise engine work scopes, repair schemes and technical documentation
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of engine faults, removals, and in-service events
- Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and OEM (e.g., GE, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce) requirements
- Review and interpret engine manuals, service bulletins and airworthiness directives
- Collaborate with production, quality, and inspection teams to improve turnaround time (TAT) and cost efficiency
- Support engine testing, validation, and post-overhaul performance verification
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean processes and reliability programs
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and junior engineers
Working Conditions / Environment / Special Requirements
- Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, FAA, DOT, and State and Federal regulations.
- As required by the position, must have the ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 "Respirator Protection" regulations with no restrictions that would prevent the proper use and/or seal of the respirator.
- Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required
- Employees will be subject to the random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5–7 years of experience in aviation MRO, engine overhaul, or airline engineering
- Strong knowledge of turbofan engine systems (e.g., compressors, combustors, turbines, FADEC systems)
- Experience with engine programs such as CFM56, LEAP, CF6
- Familiarity with aviation regulatory frameworks (FAA Part 145, EASA Part 145)
- Ability to read and interpret OEM technical publications and engineering drawings
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
