Overview
The Ascendancy Group is seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to provide advanced operational communications, systems integration, and military information technology expertise. This role leads complex communications initiatives, designs and integrates tactical and strategic network architectures, troubleshoots systems in contested or deployed environments, and ensures compliance with DoD cybersecurity, DISA standards, and spectrum management requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with SATCOM, LOS systems, IP-based networks, converged voice/data/video platforms, and tactical-edge technologies, while providing expert guidance to operational units, developing SOPs and communication plans, and assessing emerging capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
· Provide advanced operational communications, military IT, and systems-integration expertise in support of Special Operations Forces.
· Analyze tactical and strategic communications requirements, identify capability gaps, and develop innovative solutions to meet mission needs.
· Support communications architectures involving SATCOM, line-of-sight systems, IP-based networks, converged voice/data/video platforms, and tactical-edge technologies.
· Lead communications initiatives as a project manager, overseeing system integration planning, technical development, configuration management, and lifecycle documentation.
· Serve as a senior technical liaison to operational units, joint SOF elements, and mission partners.
· Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, DISA standards, and spectrum management requirements.
· Troubleshoot complex communications systems in contested, austere, or deployed environments, ensuring operational integrity and continuity.
· Develop communications plans, SOPs, architecture documentation, and mission-tailored technical guidance.
· Provide advanced training, mentorship, and technical instruction to operational forces on communications systems and TTPs.
· Conduct assessments of emerging technologies and provide recommendations to leadership regarding integration, modernization, and interoperability with partner organizations (IC, LE, international forces).
· Maintain accurate tracking of communications equipment, technical resources, and configuration control documentation.
· Operate independently with minimal supervision and deploy OCONUS in support of operational requirements when tasked.
Position Requirements:
· Minimum 7–10 years of experience in military communications, tactical networks, or operational IT systems.
· Demonstrated expertise with SATCOM, LOS radio systems, IP-based networks, converged voice/data/video platforms, or tactical-edge communications technologies.
· Experience supporting Special Operations Forces or similar high-demand operational units.
· Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, DISA standards, and DoD spectrum management policies.
· Proven experience managing system integration, configuration management, and technical documentation.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex networks under operational pressure, including denied or contested environments.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and deliver effective training.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to operate independently in high-tempo, ambiguous environments.
· Willingness and ability to deploy OCONUS independently as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in communications, information technology, systems engineering, or related field.
· Prior support to Naval Special Warfare or joint SOF components.
· Experience with advanced tactical communications suites, mission-planning systems, or emerging communications technologies.
· Certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, CISSP, or DoD 8570/8140 compliant credentials.
· Experience developing communications TTPs, technical SOPs, or modernization strategies.
· Experience training operational forces or delivering communications instruction in deployed environments.
