Development Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE / JOB SUMMARY

  • The Development Assistant supports and works with the Development Director to implement, track and manage all fundraising activities that take place at SLO Classical Academy. Duties include maintaining clean records, writing and editing copy for school-wide distribution, assisting with school events, both on and off campus, working with online giving portals as well as varied computer programs and assisting will fundraising and community outreach programs.
  • The Development Assistant is expected to develop positive relationships with individuals associated with SLOCA in alignment with our vision and mission to ensure a long-term presence for us on the Central Coast

JOB STRUCTURE AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Part -Time, Year-Round, Employee Status
  • The Development Assistant reports to the Development Director
  • The Development Assistant will participate on a team that requires demonstration of SLOCA’s aspirational goals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required:
    • 2+ years experience in office work and administration
    • Experience planning and executing events
    • Technology - Mac literate; knowledgeable with Word, Pages, Excel, Google. Desired - understanding of Classy, Airtable, Salesforce, Active Campaign, etc.
  • SLOCA-specific
    • A willingness to learn about and support passionately the mission of SLO Classical Academy
    • Committed to support and uphold the school’s unique makeup as non-sectarian and accessible to families and employees from various backgrounds and beliefs
    • Clear a background check and TB screening
    • Ability to carry out duties as described below

  • High level of energy and good sense of humor with the capacity for varying time and effort demands
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with members of the community
  • Utilize computer technology for communication, data gathering and reporting activities, such as social media, graphic design, and contact management systems
  • Analyzing and interpreting data and making appropriate recommendations based on findings
  • A natural inclination toward innovation and creativity
  • Work effectively on a variety of teams

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development Assistant will manage all communication, promotion, recordkeeping, and assist in planning as well as implementation of internal fundraising programs and events, including:
  • Student Driven fundraisers
  • Parent’s Days
  • Grand Days
  • Dinners and mixers
  • Merry Donation Society
  • SLOCA Rewards
  • Foundation Circle
  • Local community events and mixers
  • Development Assistant will provide support for the quarterly newsletter.
  • Development Assistant is responsible for:
    • Maintaining donor database
    • Inputing and track all donations
    • Creating and mailing all tax receipts
    • Providing weekly transaction reports to the accounting team
    • Managing SLOCA rewards tracking and communications
    • Tracking sponsorships and assisting the Development Director with securing new sponsors
    • Providing support to fundraisers, donors, and families with questions/comments/concerns via email, phone and in person
  • Development Assistant will organize the Family Fundraising Goal program, including tracking gifts, calculating family goals, and billing families with the academic year cycle.
  • Staff members are expected to adhere to all Administrative Directives as well as any applicable SLOCA Policies including those specifically outlined in the Employee Manual.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Allows for flexibility in schedule, as approved by the Development Director. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. No special physical demands beyond coordination used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Incumbents may be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

The pay range for this role is:
23 - 25 USD per hour(1880)
