CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years is seeking a Mechanical Technician II to support the installation, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of advanced manufacturing equipment. This hands-on role is ideal for mechanical technicians with experience in industrial equipment installation, manufacturing, or automated production systems who enjoy working directly on the production floor.

Job Title: Mechanical Technician II
Location: Wilmington, NC
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC.
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M–F, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Education: Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent related experience.
What You'll Do- Install, troubleshoot, and commission new or modified manufacturing equipment.
- Support equipment construction, mechanical assembly, testing, debugging, and startup activities.
- Work directly with production equipment to ensure successful installation and operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems and resolve installation and equipment issues.
- Interpret engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, and P&IDs.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams, contractors, equipment vendors, and project engineers.
- Update installation documentation, drawings, checklists, and machine specifications.
- Assist with equipment modifications to improve performance and installation efficiency.
- Procure and coordinate materials required for equipment installation projects.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and project timelines.
- Provide training and technical guidance to maintenance personnel and installation teams.
- Experience supporting mechanical equipment installation in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with industrial equipment.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of mechanical drive systems, pneumatic actuators, process piping, and process variables.
- Hands-on experience using precision measuring instruments, alignment tools, and common hand tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel within North Carolina as project needs require.
