Environmental Scientist

Position Summary:
Midnight Sun is looking to hire an Environmental Scientist in the Portland, Oregon area. This position will include the collection of environmental samples at locations in the vicinity of Portland, Oregon.
The ideal candidate would possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience, have a strong understanding of chemistry as it relates to environmental sampling and be safety conscious.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with laboratories.
- Field preparation.
- Complete field documentation including, but not limited to: daily reports, field notes, and chain of custody forms.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Industry Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering or geology.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the environmental industry.
- Other experience requirements - Experience working with the Federal Government and Department of Defense.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical knowledge of environmental sciences, collection of environmental samples and safety.
- Must have time management and organizational skills.
- Reading/Writing/Communication proficiency in English
- Proficiency is Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, etc.)
Certifications/Licenses/Other
- HAZWOPER 40 hr. refreshed annually, First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30 Certification.
- Ability to obtain or maintain client site access and badging requirements.
- Must have An Uncompromising Commitment to Safety!
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- The duties of this position require job performance in indoor and outdoor settings, which includes office work as well as frequent visits to active construction sites, which may be indoors or outdoors. Performance of essential job duties may involve exposure to various weather conditions, uneven terrain, construction equipment or materials, noise, duty, and other job-related hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and appropriate safety gear is required on all active job sites. Travel between job sites may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, knee, bend, walk, climb, and otherwise navigate active construction areas safely.
- Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move materials or equipment, regularly up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use hands to operate computers, phones, and other office or field equipment.
