Job Description
Position Summary:
Safe Industries Collision is seeking an Automotive Electrician to diagnose, repair, and install electrical wiring, electronic systems, and computer-controlled components in a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
At Safe Industries Collision, we specialize in heavy truck and equipment repair, re-chassis, refurbishment, and custom rebuilds. A significant portion of our work supports municipalities, public works fleets, and fire apparatus, providing candidates with the opportunity to work on a diverse range of specialized vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and experience working with complex electrical and electronic systems.
Essential Functions & Core Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system on 12/24-volt automotive system.
Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and electrical issues
Repair and replace defective parts and components.
Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle and equipment faults.
Complete work orders accurately and document repairs performed.
Conduct post repair test to ensure issues were corrected.
Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards.
Maintain a clean work and organized work area.
Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and meet production deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with multimeters, scanners, and hand tools.
Know and install wiring and components correctly and by code based on manufactures resources and guidelines.
Prepared and willing to learn new products based on the demands of our customers.
Must be detailed oriented and organized to track the components during the repair and the re-assemble of the components in correct working order.
Gain continued knowledge in the NFPA 1900 wiring requirements for Fire Apparatus.
Currently has or working towards EVT and ASE certifications.
Preferred Education Certifications, and/or Experience:
High school diploma or technical school certification in automotive technology.
3 plus years of hands-on automotive electrician experience.
ASE automotive electrical 12/24-volt certification or training.
EVT apparatus electrical 12/24-volt certification.
Physical Demands:
Ability to safely lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods while performing job-related duties.
Ability to work underneath vehicles using a wheeled creeper to inspect, service, and repair equipment.
Ability to safely work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms while performing overhead maintenance and repair tasks.
Ability to perform duties in a variety of work environments while adhering to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
Ability to maintain awareness of and comply with all applicable safety procedures and workplace hazard controls.
