Job Description

Civil/Structural Engineer — Houston, TXFor more than 45 years, Stiver Engineering has been synonymous with integrity, customer service, and quality engineering solutions. Our team prepares structural designs for major civil and public works construction projects, and is best known for our work on tunneling, shoring, and emergency response projects. Our engineers design site plans, structural steel plans, and reinforced concrete plans used to construct commercial, industrial, government/public, and other technical facilities.
Over the past five years, we've expanded our structural engineering team and client base across the U.S. We're now seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Houston, contributing to high-profile tunneling, shoring, and emergency-response projects alongside our established design group.

Key Functions
  • Design structures by calculating loads and stresses in materials and structures
  • Prepare structural steel and reinforced concrete plans (plan views and sections) for civil and public works projects
  • Develop engineering documents, construction specifications, plans, and schedules from project concepts, drawings, and models
  • Apply principles of mechanics, mathematics, and physics to produce design calculations and oversee production of drawings
  • Analyze survey, mapping, and materials-testing data using computer modeling software
  • Provide technical direction to CAD technicians for project drawings
  • Interact directly with clients on ongoing project requirements
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in structural design
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis software (RISA), AutoCAD, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under deadline pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
