Area Sales Manager - Lab Products

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Area Sales Manager - Lab Products based in India.

This role is a field-focused techno-commercial position responsible for driving sales growth of laboratory consumables, chemicals, and scientific products across a defined territory in India. The Area Sales Manager will play a key role in expanding market presence by identifying new customers, strengthening distributor networks, and managing strategic key accounts. The position combines technical understanding of lab products with strong commercial execution to deliver revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Working closely with distributors and end users, the role ensures effective product promotion, demand generation, and solution-based selling. It requires continuous market monitoring to understand trends, competition, and emerging opportunities. The environment is dynamic, field-oriented, and highly customer-centric, offering strong exposure to scientific and industrial laboratory ecosystems.

Accountabilities:
  • Drive territory sales performance by identifying and developing new customers, managing existing accounts, and achieving defined revenue and margin targets across lab consumables, chemicals, chromatography products, equipment, and instruments.
  • Develop and strengthen distribution channels while ensuring consistent product availability, market penetration, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage key accounts and collaborate closely with channel partners to support business growth, collections, and profitability objectives.
  • Conduct market mapping, competitor analysis, and demand assessment to identify opportunities and support strategic business decisions.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, track performance metrics, and ensure timely follow-ups on leads and opportunities generated across functions.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, product education, and advisory to customers and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science; MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in sales or technical support of lab consumables, chemicals, or scientific instruments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of laboratory chemicals, consumables, instrumentation, microbiology, or chromatography products.
  • Proven experience in B2B sales, distributor management, and key account handling in a technical or scientific environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong customer focus, negotiation skills, and ability to work independently in a field-based role.
