Job Description
The Lead Residential Supervisor is responsible for providing shift leadership and oversight of residential operations at River Haven Shelter/Pat’s Place, ensuring the safety, structure, and effective functioning of the program during assigned shift. This position serves as the primary on-site authority in the absence of program leadership and is responsible for supervising residents and staff in accordance with program policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, as well as individual client service plans.
In addition to direct resident supervision, the Lead Residential Supervisor is responsible for managing crisis response, overseeing intakes, and coordinating emergency interventions for youth experiencing acute housing instability or behavioral/mental health crises. This role provides leadership in de-escalation efforts, decision-making during emergencies, and ensures appropriate referrals and documentation are completed in a timely manner.
Principal Duties:
- Provides shift leadership and direct supervision of residential staff and residents to ensure safety, structure, and compliance with program rules and individual service plans.
- Acts as the lead responder for crisis situations, including behavioral health crises, safety concerns, and emergency incidents occurring during assigned shifts.
- Oversees and conducts walk-ins, intake screenings, and brief assessments for potential clients, determining immediate service needs and initiating appropriate placement or referral processes.
- Handles incoming phone calls and requests for services, providing crisis intervention, stabilization support, and triage to appropriate staff or external resources.
- Coordinates emergency decision-making, including notifications to on-call administration, guardians, and relevant service providers when immediate intervention is required.
- Ensures appropriate implementation of emergency and planned discharge procedures during assigned shifts.
- Supports and guides staff in providing positive youth development activities, including group facilitation, engagement strategies, and structured programming.
- Oversees resident compliance with medication administration protocols, health and mental health service follow-through, and emergency care needs.
- Ensures the physical environment remains safe, clean, and structured by supervising chore completion, completing shift checklists, and addressing facility concerns in real time.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of incidents, intakes, and shift activities, and ensures critical information is communicated to program leadership and case management staff.
- Provides transportation or arranges transportation for clients in accordance with agency procedures.
- Participates in staff training, supervision, and meetings, and supports onboarding and mentoring of residential staff as needed.
- Assists with additional program operations such as data collection, supply coordination, meal support, outreach activities, and other duties as assigned to support program functioning.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent, with prior youth work experience preferred. Must demonstrate interest and have the capacity to effectively work with runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth and their families. A valid driver's license is required.
Salary: $20.00 an hour
