Job Description

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in the United States.

This senior technical role focuses on the design and delivery of complex, mission-critical electrical systems supporting large-scale data center infrastructure. You will act as a key engineering authority across all phases of project delivery, from early-stage concept design through commissioning and final handover. The role requires deep expertise in high- and medium-voltage systems, with a strong emphasis on reliability, redundancy, and scalable power architecture. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, and construction partners to ensure safe, code-compliant, and high-performance electrical designs. In addition to technical leadership, you will help guide design strategy, evaluate emerging technologies, and improve engineering standards across projects. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in high-impact environments where precision, coordination, and innovation are critical.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead electrical system design for large-scale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning and final turnover.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between internal teams, engineers of record, contractors, and external consultants to resolve complex design challenges.
  • Oversee the development, review, and quality control of electrical design deliverables, including one-line diagrams, load studies, arc flash analyses, and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and IEC throughout the design and execution lifecycle.
  • Lead risk assessments, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning activities, and system integration verification.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and architectural teams to ensure full coordination of integrated building systems.
  • Identify and resolve design bottlenecks while supporting schedule adherence, cost control, and project delivery performance.
  • Provide field support during construction, including site walkthroughs, issue resolution, and successful system handover to operations.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of internal design standards, templates, and engineering best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related discipline with electrical building systems focus.
  • 10+ years of experience in A/E design environments, with strong emphasis on data centers or mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • Strong expertise in power distribution systems, including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, and associated controls.
  • Proficiency in electrical modeling and analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, or equivalent software.
  • Strong experience with BIM coordination tools such as Revit in large-scale multidisciplinary environments.
  • Deep understanding of redundancy and resilience strategies (N, N+1, 2N) for high-availability systems.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes, substation design, and power monitoring systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical decision-making, improve processes, and drive continuous engineering improvement.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and industry standards.
  • Opportunity to lead high-impact, mission-critical data center engineering projects.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge electrical infrastructure and advanced power system technologies.
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Strong focus on professional development, technical leadership, and continuous learning.
  • Opportunity to shape internal engineering standards and best practices.
  • Involvement in full project lifecycle, from design through commissioning and operations handover.
