About the Role:
The Material Assigner plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient allocation and management of materials within a manufacturing or production environment. This position is responsible for coordinating the assignment of raw materials, components, and supplies to various production lines or projects to optimize workflow and minimize downtime. The role requires close collaboration with procurement, inventory management, and production teams to maintain accurate records and ensure materials are available when needed. By effectively managing material assignments, the Material Assigner helps maintain production schedules and supports overall operational efficiency. This position contributes directly to cost control and quality assurance by preventing material shortages and reducing waste.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in inventory management or materials coordination within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with ERP system SAP
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in supply chain management, logistics, or related field.
- , Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and material requirements planning (MRP).
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control standards in manufacturing.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assign materials to production orders based on priority, availability, and project requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with procurement to replenish stock as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of material usage and assignments in inventory management systems.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to understand material needs and adjust assignments accordingly.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in material allocation to prevent production delays.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on material flow and usage patterns.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in handling and assigning materials.
