This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Distribution Systems Lead Engineer based in the United States.

This role is a high-impact leadership position at the center of large-scale communications infrastructure delivery supporting mission-critical environments. You will oversee the end-to-end execution of OSP/ISP fiber and telecommunications systems across complex, distributed field operations. Acting as both technical authority and on-site leader, you will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, subcontractors, and government stakeholders to ensure successful deployment of advanced network infrastructure. The role demands strong operational oversight, deep telecom engineering expertise, and the ability to manage high-tempo field environments across geographically dispersed sites. You will play a key role in ensuring quality, compliance, and schedule adherence while solving complex installation and design challenges in real time. This is an opportunity to lead critical infrastructure programs that directly support national defense communications capabilities. The environment is fast-paced, field-intensive, and highly mission-driven.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and coordinate OSP/ISP fiber, telecommunications closet, and distribution system engineering teams across multiple field sites, ensuring integrated execution and alignment of technical deliverables.
  • Manage subcontractors and agency personnel, providing daily direction, performance oversight, quality assurance, and resolution of field issues and conflicts.
  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison with government stakeholders, coordinating requirements, access, scheduling, and operational constraints.
  • Oversee validation of engineering outputs including designs, drawings, reports, risk assessments, and installation documentation.
  • Lead technical reviews, site planning sessions, and strategic execution decisions for distribution system deployments.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate engineering, construction, and integration risks across complex telecom environments.
  • Ensure adherence to defense and federal infrastructure standards including AF/SF, TIA/EIA, UFC, and related communications requirements.
  • Support program leadership with reporting, execution planning, and field performance tracking across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in telecommunications engineering, network infrastructure, OSP/ISP design, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary engineering or field deployment teams in large-scale infrastructure programs.
  • Proven experience delivering communications or network modernization projects within defense, federal, or large enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in fiber optic systems, OSP construction, telecom room infrastructure, and field installation practices.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, field crews, and distributed engineering teams in high-complexity environments.
  • Familiarity with defense installation processes and standards, including Air Force and Space Force infrastructure requirements.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain it.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75–100%) to field sites including remote and high-security locations.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate in mission-critical, time-sensitive environments.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range: $111,155 – $150,385 annually (based on experience, location, and contract factors)
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, including Health Savings Account (HSA) options
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions
  • Generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and parental leave
  • Paid family leave program offering up to 160 hours annually for eligible employees
  • Short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and additional voluntary coverage options
  • Flexible work arrangements with remote setup plus structured field deployment schedule
  • Career development opportunities within large-scale government and defense technology programs.
