About the role
Are you passionate about agriculture and ready to help shape the future of farming? We’re on the lookout for a driven, customer-focused Agri Manager to join our team on a 14-month fixed term, based out of our Gisborne store. You’ll be part of a supportive, practical, and down-to-earth team who are passionate about helping farmers succeed and making a real difference in the rural community.
As an Agri Manager, you’ll be a trusted advisor to our shareholders, helping them get the very best from their soil, pasture, crops, and livestock. You’ll play a key role in supporting farmers to improve productivity while adopting environmentally sustainable practices.
This is a role where every day counts, with most of your time spent on farm building strong relationships, understanding individual farming systems, and delivering tailored nutrient and farm management solutions. Your portfolio will include a diverse mix of sheep and beef customers across the Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay region, making this a great opportunity to grow your career with Ravensdown.
What you'll do
- Build strong, trusted relationships with farmers, taking the time to understand their individual needs and farming systems
- Plan and carry out regular on-farm visits, providing tailored nutrient and farm management advice
- Work alongside shareholders to improve farm productivity, profitability, and environmental outcomes
- Promote and deliver Ravensdown’s products, services, and technology solutions to support smarter farming
- Identify opportunities to grow your portfolio and achieve sales targets
- Develop practical strategies with farmers to reduce environmental impact and optimise land use
- Stay up to date with industry trends, environmental regulations, and emerging technology
- Collaborate with your wider team to share knowledge, support each other, and deliver the best outcomes for customers
About you
You’re someone who genuinely enjoys working with farmers and being out on farm, building strong, long-term relationships. You take pride in understanding each customer’s unique operation and providing practical, tailored advice that adds real value.
You bring a positive, can-do attitude and a strong customer focus, along with the confidence to work independently and manage your own portfolio. You’re a great communicator who can connect easily, earn trust, and have meaningful conversations that support better farm outcomes.
You’re also motivated to keep learning and growing, with a real interest in the future of agriculture and how innovation and environmental sustainability can go hand in hand.
Ideal skills & experience
- A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for the agriculture industry
- 2+ years’ experience working in a customer-facing or sales role, with the ability to build strong, authentic relationships
- Solid understanding of farming systems, particularly soil fertility and nutrient management
- Strong communication skills – you’re confident, approachable, and build trust easily
- Awareness of New Zealand’s evolving environmental policies and how they impact farming practices
- Comfortable using technology, with experience in agricultural systems or digital tools
- A relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture or a related field (preferred
