Job Title: DCS-Sanitation and Recycling Compliance InspectorSummary: The Township of Montclair is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer / Sanitation & Recycling Compliance Inspector to monitor and enforce municipal sanitation, recycling, and organics collection regulations. This field-based position is responsible for conducting inspections, investigating complaints, educating residents, documenting violations, and enforcing Township ordinances related to waste collection and recycling compliance.Key Responsibilities: include inspecting residential and commercial properties, issuing warnings and summonses when necessary, maintaining detailed inspection records, preparing reports for Municipal Court, and coordinating with sanitation and recycling operations. The position requires independent decision-making, strong communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent• Valid New Jersey Driver's License• Ability to report consistently for a 5:00 AM start time• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work independently and maintain accurate recordsPreferred Qualifications:• Experience in code enforcement, municipal inspections, sanitation operations, law enforcement, or a related field• Experience issuing violations, summonses, or conducting regulatory inspectionsThis position requires outdoor fieldwork, frequent walking and inspections, and occasional Municipal Court appearances.Salary: $25.65-$37.56 per hour; does not include health benefits, or state pension membership.
