This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Data Protection Services based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of data security, cryptography, and enterprise risk management, responsible for shaping how sensitive information is protected across a complex, cloud-first environment. You will define and drive a multi-year strategy for data protection and cryptographic services, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory, AI governance, and industry security standards. The role blends hands-on technical depth with executive influence, requiring you to translate complex security architecture into clear business risk narratives for senior leadership and the board. You will lead a high-performing engineering team while overseeing critical security capabilities such as DLP, CASB, DSPM, and AI security posture management. Acting as the organization’s authority on data protection, you will influence architecture decisions, vendor strategy, and enterprise-wide security adoption. This is a highly visible position with significant impact on how data is secured, governed, and trusted at scale.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will define and execute the strategic vision for data protection and cryptographic security while leading engineering execution and cross-functional alignment.

  • Define and lead the multi-year roadmap for data protection and cryptographic services, evolving the program into an industry-leading security capability.
  • Establish and enforce enterprise data protection policies and frameworks aligned with standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and emerging AI governance models.
  • Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of end-to-end data protection systems including DLP, CASB, DSPM, AI-SPM, and related security tooling.
  • Own cryptographic standards across the organization, including encryption, key management, PKI, HSM usage, and secrets management.
  • Drive modernization of cryptographic practices, including cloud-native security and long-term quantum-readiness planning.
  • Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership, translating security posture into clear risk, investment, and prioritization decisions.
  • Manage vendor relationships, technology roadmaps, and contractual alignment for enterprise data protection solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of security engineers while fostering a high-trust, high-performance culture.
Requirements:

This role requires deep expertise in information security leadership, cryptography, and cloud-native data protection, combined with strong executive communication skills.

  • 10+ years of experience in information security, including at least 5 years in a leadership role managing technical security teams.
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and maturing enterprise security or data protection programs.
  • Strong expertise in applied cryptography, including PKI, TLS/mTLS, HSMs, key lifecycle management, and encryption standards.
  • Experience with cloud security architectures across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP environments.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML security concepts such as prompt injection, data poisoning, model exfiltration, and AI governance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with modern security tooling such as DLP, CASB, DSPM, and AI-SPM solutions.
  • Strong ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Product organizations.
  • Experience supporting audits, certifications, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, or cloud provider certifications are highly valued.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $117,200 to $157,500 USD, with potential for additional compensation based on experience
  • Remote-flexible work environment with strong autonomy
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Flexible paid time off and generous parental leave
  • Wellness programs and employee assistance resources
  • Tuition reimbursement and ongoing learning and development support
  • Additional perks including pet insurance, legal and identity protection, and donation matching programs.
