Schedule: 8 AM-5 PM or 9 AM - 6 PM Pacific Time | Monday–Friday
The Network Implementation Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end implementation of managed network services for customers, as defined by customer sales orders. This role focuses on hands-on execution of customer implementations, including design validation, configuration, deployment, migration, and activation of network services.
What does a day in the life as a Network Implementation Engineer (SD-WAN) look like?
- Deliver end-to-end implementation of customer network services, including firewalls, SD-WAN, switching, wireless, and WAN connectivity.
- Manage and execute multiple concurrent customer implementation projects, balancing priorities, timelines, and customer communication.
- Configure, deploy, and activate Cisco Meraki and/or Fortinet-based solutions in accordance with approved designs.
- Implement Arista VeloCloud SD-WAN solutions as required.
- Coordinate remotely with customer IT staff and Cox field technicians to complete on-site activities.
- Execute network migrations and cutovers with minimal customer disruption.
- Perform troubleshooting during implementation and assist with issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate implementation documentation required for transition to Support.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, Project Managers, and internal stakeholders regarding progress, risks, and blockers.
- Follow implementation standards, processes, and security requirements.
What are the required qualifications of a Network Implementation Engineer (SD-WAN)?
- 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing enterprise network solutions in customer-facing environments.
- Strong hands-on implementation experience with at least one of the following platforms: Cisco Meraki (MX firewalls, Meraki SD-WAN, MS switches, MR access points) or Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and FortiSD-WAN
- Experience implementing customer networks in production, customer-facing environments
- Ability to independently execute customer implementations with minimal oversight
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple simultaneous network implementation projects.
- Strong practical experience with Cisco Meraki and/or Fortinet platforms.
- Solid understanding of L2/L3 networking, WAN architectures, and SD-WAN concepts.
- Experience working with U.S.-based customers or in globally distributed teams.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to ramp quickly and operate with limited onboarding time.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with both Meraki and Fortinet platforms
- Exposure to Arista VeloCloud SD-WAN
- Experience working in multi-vendor enterprise network environments
- Experience with Check Point and/or Palo Alto Networks firewalls
- Cradlepoint LTE / 5G routers
Network:
- IPv4 / IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and NAT (including port translation)
- VLANs, Layer 2 switching, and spanning tree (STP/RSTP/MST)
- Layer 3 routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP)
- VPN technologies (IPSec configuration and troubleshooting)
- High availability and link aggregation (HSRP, LACP, port channeling, vPC)
- Quality of Service (QoS)
