The Patient Access Representative I position plays a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely,
The Patient Access Representative I is responsible to greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner,
A core function of this position is to ensure that all customers, external and internal, are treated with the highest level of respect,
Clearly review and communicate all forms and obtain required signatures for services provided,
The Patient Access Representative I ensures accuracy and thoroughness in collection and documentation of the patients demographic and insurance information and utilizes the technology available to complete the registration,
The Patient Access Representative I participates in creating a positive environment for patient and colleague satisfaction,
Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers
Interviews patients, family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information, for scheduling, preregistration and or registration based on assigned work
Obtains and documents all demographic information to accurately identify the patient
Obtains insurance information, completes insurance verification and verifies appropriate authorization status, if required,
Ensures that all orders and prescriptions are compliant with appropriate signatures, proper documentation of diagnosis, patient identifiers and are linked to the correct encounter, as applicable,
Meets and exceeds department goals including accuracy, point of service collections and productivity
Ensures all required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained and signed by the patient or an approved person on behalf of the patient
Informs patient of financial responsibility and collects appropriate dollar amount for services to be rendered
Demonstrates proficiency in the entire pre admission, registration, and financial clearance processes
Demonstrates a high level of efficiency, accuracy and productivity
Complies with organizational, facility, and departmental policies
Maintains department productivity by asking for additional duties when patient flow permits
Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude
Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to foster a team environment
Participate in training all training both formally assigned, newsletters, job aides, in services, staff meetings, huddles and facility assigned trainings,
Weekend hours required
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma required
Customer service experience preferred
Patient Access experience preferred
Medical terminology experience preferred
Computer skills required referring to the practical know how needed to operate computers, use software applications, and manage digital information effectively in professional settings
Bilingual preferred
Epic HB preferred
